Mango Calla Lilies
Mango calla lilies sport vibrant yellow and orange shades and derive their name from the delicious mango fruit. A mango calla lily looks greats as solitary flower as well as in a bouquet. A flower bouquet consisting of nothing but mango calla lilies is sure to attract attention since it produces an amazing and very dramatic effect. Mango calla lilies are also frequently included in mixed flower bouquets where they add colour as well as style to the arrangement. They can be combined with other calla lilies, such as bronze calla lilies, or with other flower species and green plants.
All the different Calla lilies belong to the genus Zantedeschia, but are called Calla lilies since they used to be included in the genus Calla. In this genus you will also find the so called Arum lilies, which tend to be larger and floppier than the delicate Calla lilies. The Calla lilies can also be obtained in a much wider range of colors, including the striking Mango calla lilies.
The famous white Calla lily is derived from a species named Zantedeschia aethiopica, while Calla lilies showing yellow, orange, red or purple shades – such as the Mango calla lily – usually hail from Zantedeschia albomaculata, Zantedeschia pentlandii or Zantedeschia rehmanni. Wild Zantedeschia albomaculata can show orange shades, just like the Mango calla lilies, but can also be pink, white and cream-colored. This flower grows from Kenya to South Africa. Zantedeschia pentlandii is rarer, and its coloration is closer to yellow than red. The flowers are very large and look truly astonishing. Zantedeschia rehmanni is usually pink and have very stylish sword shaped leaves.
